About

I’m Marcus Camero — a cybersecurity professional with years of experience supporting the Department of War and, more recently, a deep passion for AI security and governance.

Originally from San Antonio, I moved to Kansas City in 2016. I’ve spent much of my career in DoW environments, where security, risk management, and disciplined processes aren’t optional — they’re mission-critical. That foundation shapes how I approach every problem: structured, risk-aware, and focused on practical outcomes.

Over time, I discovered that artificial intelligence sits at the intersection of everything I care about in security. The speed of AI adoption, the unique risks it introduces, and the need for solid governance frameworks pulled me in. After earning my CISSP and ISACA AAISM (Advanced in AI Security Management) certifications, I knew this was the direction I wanted to pursue. I’m now focused on building real capability in AI risk management, governance, and security controls so I can contribute meaningfully in this space.

Outside of work, my highest priority is being a present husband and father. I spend my free time with my family — whether that’s everyday moments at home or trips and adventures that create lasting memories. That same commitment to showing up fully is something I bring into my professional life as well.

I’m currently building practical experience and a portfolio of AI governance work while seeking opportunities where I can apply both my DoW background and my growing expertise in AI security.
